Harry Potter books have a big group of fans in many countries

People are quite impressed by the heavy worldwide success of the Harry Potter stories. The Harry Potter books were written by the UK writer J.K. Rowling. She was given birth to on 31 July 1965. Her full name is Joanne Rowling. But she writes under the abbreviation J.K. Rowling because initially her publisher considered it was a beneficial move not to show the fact that she is female. The publishing company feared it might have a negative effect on the sales numbers if everybody immediately recognizes that the author is female. So, instead of revealing her first name she used two letters. As she has no middle name she picked Kathleen as basis for the K. in her short form. Kathleen is the name of her fathers mother.

The very first Harry Potter novel – Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone – was released in June 1997 in the United Kingdom. Quite funny is the fact that only 1,000 units of the first story were publicized at that time. The original title of the novel was not Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, but Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. But when the novel was released to the American market in the year 1998, it was renamed Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

After that Joanne invented 6 more Harry Potter books. Today the Harry Potter series consists of 7 novels. These are:

  • Story 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
  • Story 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Story 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Story 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Story 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Story 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Story 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Harry Potter novels have been translated into more than fifty languages and have been published in a lot of countries. Besides the huge success in the United States and Britain, Harry Potter is also quite liked in Europe. The Harry Potter books (German book store: Harry Potter Buchshop) have been released to the German public under the following headers:

  • Teil 1: Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen
  • Teil 2: Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens
  • Teil 3: Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban
  • Teil 4: Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch
  • Teil 5: Harry Potter und der Orden des Phoenix
  • Teil 6: Harry Potter und der Halbblutprinz
  • Teil 7: Harry Potter und die Heiligtuemer des Todes

I must admit that I did not have the time to read all those stories. But there are readers who know them all, which is very remarkable and makes up the tremendous success.
